17 Jun MXing It Up
The MSN Circuit Rally Championship (MSNCRC) in association with MSVR, featuring the Michelin Cup and the Protyre Challenge is delighted to announce a major shake-up of the MX5 Class, ensuring it now becomes the perfect starting point for entry into circuit rallying.
In order to encourage more participation ahead of the 2020-21, the Championship has revised its regulations on what cars are eligible for the class. The Paul Sheard supported class now incorporates all cars from 1595cc to 2010cc, and while the hard-top regulation remains, it is no longer restricted to a Paul Sheard one.
Darren Spann Championship Co-ordinator enthused: “This really is the best budget route into stage rallying in a fun low-cost rear wheel drive car. This is a class that embraces the true clubman competitor who want to compete on a budget”
The tweaks to the regulations follows hot on the heels of the announcement of two brand new classes to the championship, as it looks to make 2020-21 season, one of the most affordable ways into rallying.
The MX5 class has proved to be a popular choice with competitors looking for affordable and competitive rallying and, is the perfect starting point for those coming into the sport for the first time, or even just to hire a car for a one-off event.
Paul Sheard (MX5 Build Specialist) Commented: “I’m delighted that the class has grown over the past two seasons and with opening up the regulations a little it’s sure to make it accessible to all, not just hairdressers”
As ever, the MX5 class will feature a host of great prizes including an MSV season pass and a 12-month subscription to Motorsport News. Drivers will also be eligible to compete in the Protyre Challenge and the Michelin Cup.
The MSN Circuit Rally Championship is the UK’s Premier Circuit rallying Championship. With 8 rounds at 6 circuits across the United Kingdom, the Championship starts in November and finishes in April.
